Dental Plan Insurance
-

Some cash plans include dental cover, but you can also get separate dental insurance plans. With these you pay a monthly fee and there are often different levels of cover you can choose from, depending if you use a NHS or private dentist. You'll usually be covered for standard treatments such as check-ups, fillings, gum disease treatment, extraction and bridgework repairs. You can make a claim up to a certain limit for each time you need to have dental work done. Cosmetic dental work is not usually covered.
Because you will be paying your insurance premiums monthly this means that the costs will be more affordable. There may be a maximum number of claims you can make each year and set pay out limits for different claims.
Considerations when taking out dental insurance:
- What are the different levels of cover you can choose from and what are their eventuall pay out limits.
- What is excluded in your policy.
- What is the policy excess, what is the sum that you would have to find yourself should you make a claim.
- Is there a maximum number of claims you can make each year.
- Is there a pre stated length of time you have to have the policy before you can make a claim.
